Every college treats the ACT differently. It is well-known that some states don’t give very much value to it, while others rely almost entirely on the ACT to determine whether or not you are financially set for college. Here in Alabama, a high ACT score along with a good GPA is enough to give you a free ride at many schools.
You’ll see from the table that most schools require a 3.5 GPA while some have payments at the 3.5 GPA level and higher awards at the 3.75 and 4.0 GPA levels. For most schools in Alabama, getting a 33 or higher on the ACT is the same as getting a 36. For some, getting a 30 is enough to reach the top of their payment ladder.
These numbers are subject to change, and likely will. These numbers will give you a good idea of which schools give the most weight to the ACT, and what score you should shoot for. This is not a complete list of every college in Alabama that recognizes the ACT. These are the top nine schools in Alabama based on total enrollment numbers.
